Hydrochloric Acid(31-35%)

 

Hydrochloric acid synthetic (HCl) is a colourless, aqueous solution produced by combining hydrogen and chlorine, both of which are formed during our on-site electrolysis process. As the ensuing reaction is exothermic, the installation used is called an HCl oven or HCl burner.

The resulting hydrogen chloride gas is absorbed in deionized water, resulting in chemically pure HCl. Because of its high purity, our hydrochloric acid can be used in the food and pharmaceuticals industries as well as for other applications requiring high purity HCl. KLJ Qatar supplies synthetic, aqueous HCl in 33% to 35% solutions.

Applications

Water Treatment

Hydrochloric Acid is a strong pH reducer. It is suitable for lowering the pH and as an emulsion breaker in industrial wastewater treatment. It can be used also for scale removal.

Water purification

Hydrochloric acid works as an effective neutralisation agent for alkaline (high pH) effluent. It also helps in the regeneration of cationic resin bed.

Petroleum products

Hydrochloric acid is used to remove rust, scale and undesirable carbonate deposits in oil wells. This encourages the flow of crude oil or gas to the well. The various hydro-treating processes in a refinery include hydrodesulphurisation, hydroisomerisation, dearomatization and hydrocracking.

Dyes, pigments and paints

Hydrochloric acid is used to manufacture various pigments and dyes.

Food

Hydrochloric acid is mainly used in the production of high fructose corn syrup (HFCS). Hydrochloric acid is also used in other food processing applications including the production of hydrolysed vegetable protein and soy sauce.

Home and personal care
